There are various collective nouns for a group of owls including the wellknown Parliament of Owls, a Study of Owls, a Stare of Owls (!) and a Wisdom of Owls.
I like the idea of ‘a Silence of Owls’ - their flight is nearly completely silent, (due to the serrated edges and velvety texture of their feathers); we may not be aware of they presence even if they are nearby, hidden by foliage or shadow or blending into their surroundings; they may sit silently in a tree or fly by, unseen, cloaked in twilight or darkness.
In the end I decided upon the title 'a Whisper of Owls'; if you listen very intently, you may hear the whisper of their wings.
